G.E.M.S

G.E.M.S Overview
Girls Emerging and Maturing Into Society (G.E.M.S) is one of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Eta Psi Omega Chapter’s signature programs. G.E.M.S. is a program focused on the mentorship of under-served, young, adolescent women. The mission of the program is to promote unity among young women while building and developing poise and character in young women enrolled in local secondary schools through educational, informational, and social initiatives. It is our hope that at the culmination of the program, the young women can utilize the benefits of our initiatives as they emerge and mature into society.

Today, G.E.M.S. continues to empower young women through leadership development activities, educational enrichment, mentorship opportunities, community service projects, cultural experiences, and social engagement. Participants are encouraged to discover their strengths, develop confidence, build meaningful relationships, and embrace their responsibility as future leaders and change agents within their communities and beyond.
The 2026–2027 programme year will be guided by the inspiring theme, “BLOOM: Rooted in Legacy, Rising in Leadership,” with the sub-theme “Tend the Roots, Trust ahe Bloom.” This year’s leadership curriculum will challenge participants to reflect on the values, traditions, and examples that have shaped them while embracing the growth and transformation that come through intentional leadership development.
Just as strong roots provide the foundation for a flourishing garden, G.E.M.S. participants will be encouraged to nurture their character, strengthen their voices, and cultivate the skills necessary to lead with confidence, compassion, and purpose. As they tend to their roots and trust the process of growth, these young women will continue to bloom into leaders prepared to make meaningful contributions to their schools, communities, and the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
Through G.E.M.S., Eta Psi Omega Chapter remains steadfast in its commitment to investing in the next generation of women leaders and ensuring that the legacy of scholarship, service, sisterhood, and leadership continues to flourish for years to come.
